7 Days Of Cheap Aldi Breakfasts For Under €15 (Including Your Saturday Morning Cooked Breakfast)

‘7 days of cheap Aldi breakfasts’ for under €15 is a really frugal meal plan to help you to fill bellies and save money.

Cheap Aldi Breakfast Meal Plan

Think about how many different breakfasts you and your family actually eat and enjoy. If your family is anything like mine, you probably eat the same things over and over! Well, I’ve decided to take that to my advantage and not overcomplicate this ‘7 days of cheap Aldi breakfasts’ meal plan.

In this post you will find the following;

  1. Important notes to explain how to get the best out of your frugal breakfast meal plan.
  2. The shopping list, free to print out, with extra space for you to write the rest of your weekly shopping in there too.
  3. The prices from Aldi Ireland (correct June 2021)
  4. The description of each breakfast.
  5. A photo of each (some are doubled up!)

This meal plan is a rotation of;

  • Porridge (oatmeal) twice
  • Eggs twice
  • Pancakes twice
  • Saturday there is a hearty breakfast of sausages, bacon, eggs, beans and toast to start the weekend off in style.

I could make a more exciting menu for this post but this plan is actually what we eat regularly. At the end of the day my goal is to help you to feed your family well and to save money. This is based on a family of 3 who all eat adult sized portions. If your family is larger than mine, you can still use the meal plan but adjust accordingly for more portions. I would love to hear how that works out for you in your grocery budget.

1. Important Notes To Help You Get The Best Out Of Your Frugal Breakfast Meal Plan.

Frugal food notes

Portion Control And Limiting Food Waste.

I am always thinking ahead. This is why I am able to feed my family of 3 so well on a  weekly budget of €70. Some of the meals may seem like inadequate portions when you first look the meal plans. Each family is different, but in our family we tend to eat our meals at the same time each day. We have some snacks and by the time the day is done, everyone is full and satisfied.

The secret is low or no food waste. I used to throw food in the bin every single week. If you are throwing food in the bin regularly too,it is possible that plates are too full at meal times. Portioning food out appropriately can save you food waste, money and time.

The fruits in this meal plan are divided out per entire breakfast rather than giving a whole piece of fruit to each person. When my kids were smaller I threw out more half eaten fruit than I care to remember!Prepare and divide out the fruit before serving to make sure it all ends up in bellies and not in the bin.

Preparation

  • You will need to make a batch of pancakes. The recipe is linked below. The batch makes approximately 24 pancakes.

[Related Post: Batch Cooked Aldi Style Pancakes ( For A Third Of The Price)]

  • Each standard white sliced loaf has about 20 slices of bread including the end parts. Freeze half the loaf for the end of the week to avoid waste and having to buy more bread.
Use Your Pantry

 In my under-stairs pantry and kitchen cupboards I keep ingredients that I do not buy every week. An example of theses ingredients are;

  • Bicarbonate of soda and baking powder
  • Salt vinegar and pepper
  • Herbs and spices
  • Sugars and sweeteners
  • Butter and condiments
  • Various hot drinks including tea and coffee

You get the picture! The items that do not run out for several weeks or months are not counted in my Aldi breakfast budget. Take the money saved by not having to buy ingredients that are leftover from this week and use it to top up your pantry ingredients.

Here is an example:

It is very unlikely that a household will use a 1.5 KG bag of porridge in one week. If repeating this cheap Aldi breakfasts meal plan next week, then use the 99 cent that you do not need to spend on porridge this week and put it towards a pantry staple. You can get a bag of Aldi own brand sugar for 99 cents and that would keep you stocked up for weeks.

Leftovers

These are potential leftovers from this weeks meal plan. This obviously depends on your family’s portion size preference.

  • Plain flour
  • Porridge
  • Hazelnut spread
  • Milk
  • Bread
  • Sausages
  • Rashers

Make the best use of those leftover ingredients and roll them into you next breakfast meal plan, use for snacks or have a larger breakfast one morning.

Final Notes

  • Porridge is made with tap water

  • Hot drinks are served with breakfast

Preparation is key when meal planning to save money while feeding your family well.

Here is a List and Photo of Each Breakfast With A Cost Breakdown Of Each Meal Per Entire Meal And Per Person.

Day 1:Fried Egg And Toast.

Fried Eggs and Toast From Aldi

This is a simple, quick and filling breakfast. It does not take much explaining! You will need 6 slices of bread and 6 eggs for this breakfast. Fry your eggs as you prefer. I use a little bit of olive oil on a heavy non stick pan. (You could poach them if you prefer)

Add whatever butter, spreads or condiments and a cup of tea for a lovey tasty breakfast.

Day 2 and 5: Fruit Porridge Chocolate Bomb.

Nutoka Porridge chocolate bomb

Make up your porridge oats as per your instructions. This meal plan uses tap water but you can use milk if you have allowed for it.

I like to microwave 50g of porridge and I add lots of water as I prefer my porridge a little loose. Once the porridge is to your liking, take a heaped teaspoon of hazelnut spread and sink it straight into the porridge. Scrap it off your spoon so that it stays intact and immersed. Divide out some fruit to top all the portions of porridge. Leave it to sit for a minute. When you dig into the porridge the hazelnut spread will have melted and create a chocolate bomb effect.

Make sure that you will have enough fruit to go round for the rest of the week too! My top tip here is to make a large bowl of porridge and go a bit lighter on the fruit and hazelnut spread so that they last the week.

Day 3 and 7: Pancakes, Fruit and Hazelnut Spread.

cheap pancakes

You can pop these pancakes straight into the toaster and top with fruit and as much hazelnut spread as a you like. You can use whatever pantry staples you like with this breakfast.

Day 4:Scrambled Eggs With Toast.

scrambled egg on toast

How do you scramble your eggs? Some people like to microwave them adding nothing to them. My scrambled eggs have to be cooked in heated butter and milk in a saucepan, and seasoned with salt and pepper during cooking. No other way will do!

You will need 6 slices of bread and 6 eggs for this breakfast.

Add whatever butter, spreads or condiments and a cup of tea for a lovey tasty breakfast.

6.Saturday Morning Cooked Breakfast.

This is a classic Saturday morning breakfast. It is probably the most filling breakfast of the week. I like to oven bake or grill my sausages and rashers. There should be 3 eggs left from the 18 pack which we will have fried. Spilt the tin of baked beans 3 ways and add 2 slices of toast and a cup of tea. The beauty of this breakfast in our house is that we tend to have this closer to lunchtime and it serves as a brunch.

For this costing I have included 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon, 1/3 of a tin of beans, 1 fried egg each, toast and tea. You can add more sausages or rashers of you wish.
