Let’s make Christmas a little more organised and affordable this year

Im a bit snowed under since I came home from holid

Im a bit snowed under since I came home from holiday and I realised that Christmas is just around the corner.

I'm planning a frugal Christmas this year.

Why?

Frugality makes me happier. I absolutely hate waste. Food waste, rubbish waste, time wasted or energy.

I have never been happier than when being super organised and as zero waste as poossible.

I have been working on Christmas content this week to help with saving money for Christmas, looking at gifts for women in different prices ranges, the Christmas budget and of course, my favourite bity, Christmas food.

That is what this weeks blog is all about.

It is on the website again this week an until further notice.

Let's get the conversation going on a counter cultural Christmas where we are happily using less and spending less.

(Spoiler alert, it is so much calmer to do Christmas this way)

Christmas budgeting.

No, it’s not too early for Christmas budget discussions. In fact, it might be a little late.

If you want a calm, well organised and budget friendly Christmas now is the time to start.

I’ve gathered lots of my Christmas on a budget resources in one place ( totally free) to help you with:

🎄The budget
🎄Gift ideas for women
🎄Recipes
🎄A ‘Make ahead and freeze food’ plan
🎄…and the £500 Christmas Saving challenge

Go to the link in the bio and click on ‘ Christmas on a Budget with Mrs Hawkins’ and that will take you in to the Christmas section on my website. All Christmas content will sit in there for the next few months including updates.

You may not want to but, you absolutely should, take a look at my Christmas on a budget section, and start planning today for a comfortable Christmas on a budget while there is still time 🫣

Ever since I became debt free budgeting has become the regular default financial position. I’ve had debt a few times in my life and now, I live debt free. I’m aiming to try to live like this for the rest of my life.

Not budgeting is odd to me. Yet speaking about budgeting is still a taboo. No one minds telling you about the handbag that cost a grand but don’t dare talk about writing a budget its a

Not having enough in your bank to pay for groceries when you get to the till…

Waste less food and spend less on your groceries.

Waste less food and spend less on your groceries.

The dream says you!

'They' say that an increase to grocery prices is inevitable this winter.

We could just do without it couldn't we?

But we have to control what we can, and we can control our food waste.

I eliminated food waste in my house a few years ago and reduced my grocery bill by 50%.

I'm not saying it was easy. In fact I'd be quite open in saying it was tough and it took a lot of time.

I've put my system together into a bundle that will take some of the work off your shoulders.

The Waste Less, Spend Less system contains:

🌺 an eBook/workbook

🌺 a spreadsheet

🌺 and a chat GPT prompt to help you meal plan with zero food waste in mind.

It is just £9 today for the whole system.

Airfryer chocolate chip cookies 🍪

I used mini eggs in the video but you can use chocolate chips or other crushed chocolate sweets like M&M’s?

½ cup butter, melted and cooled
½ cup soft brown sugar
½ cup caster sugar
1 egg
1½ cups plain flour
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
¼ tsp salt
1 cup crushed Mini Eggs, chocolate chips or whatever chocolate sweets you have

Mix everything together, adding the crushed chocolate last.

I use a standard ice cream scoop to make the dough balls. You can cook them straight away or freeze them and take out as many as you want, whenever you fancy something sweet.

Let frozen dough balls defrost slightly and flatten them before cooking.

Bake in the air fryer at 160°C for eight to ten minutes. This timing is for the larger cookies shown in the video. If you make them smaller, they may cook more quickly.

Some people like a very gooey cookie and others prefer them more firmly baked, so adjust the time to suit you and your own air fryer.

Leave them to cool on a rack, where they’ll firm up a little.

Very handy for No Spend September when the children want a treat or you fancy something sweet with your coffee.

Save this recipe for later.
