Christmas Budgeting: Free Resources to Help You Start

Hi guys,

Apologies for leading with Christmas in the middle of October, but I wanted to get these resources to you as soon as possible. The longer we have to plan and budget, the less pressure there should be in December.

I’ve started gathering clothes and household bits to sell on Vinted. My goal is to bring in an extra £250 towards our Christmas food shop. I’ll let you know how I get on.

In the meantime, I’ve been adding practical Christmas resources to the website. Here are four useful places to start.

Save £500 for Christmas

This challenge gives you a clear target and a practical plan for building your Christmas fund. Adjust the amounts to suit your budget and the number of weeks you have left.

Get ahead with the Christmas food

My make-ahead Christmas food guide covers recipes and parts of Christmas dinner that you can prepare early and freeze. It can help you spread the cooking and food spending across the weeks ahead.

Download the free meal-planning printables

This free collection includes weekly and monthly meal planners, shopping lists, a kitchen inventory and a grocery-receipt tracker.

Use them to plan your festive food, check what you already have and organise the Christmas shop.

That should be plenty to get us started.

Our financial picture is different this year because I’m no longer in my previous job, so we’ll need to cut our cloth accordingly. I’ll be sharing more about our Christmas budget and how we are preparing over the coming weeks.

For now, choose the resource that would help you most and start there.

And if you want to get a conversation going with other like minded people please say hi in the comments!

Take care,

Ruth xx
