Easy Caramelized Onion Gravy
This gravy is made with simplicity in mind for a weekday evening when you have limited time for faffing around in the kitchen. It uses instant gravy and caramelized onions and it is as simple as that!
500ml of instant gravy
Half a medium onion
1 teaspoon of sugar
10 ml of balsamic vinegar
Splash of olive oil.
Slice the onion into rounds. Separate the onions slices into rings.
Heat the oil in a pan to a medium heat.
Cook the onions on a medium heat till they begin to brown. Take care not to burn the onions.
Add a the sugar and balsamic vinegar and stir.
Continue to cook the onions till they are sticky and brown, again take care not to burn them.
Make up 500ml of instant gravy and add it to the onions in the pan.
Bring to the boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes till the gravy is nice and thick.
Serve with roast chicken, sausages and mash or any other dish you like for a lovely tasty dinner.
